Communication in Bloom!
The spring themed artwork within the cards below were designed and created by Tobii Dynavox users Sarah Ezekiel, Megan Fry, and Joshua Englehaupt. To create their amazing pieces of artwork, Sarah and Megan utilize their devices, while Joshua uses a unique paintbrush created just for him. Read more about their artwork below.
Age 50 – London, England
Sarah Ezekiel of London began painting in 2012, 12 years after she was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Unable to use her hands, she creates her artwork using a Tobii Dynavox PCEye and Revelation Natural Art Software. Sarah’s love of art prompted her involvement in establishing Eyegazeartists, a non-profit organization offering works created by individuals using eye-gaze technology. Sarah generously donates a percentage of the income generated from her art sales to the Motor Neurone Disease Association. For communication, Sarah uses a Tobii Dynavox I-12 device.
Age 17 – The Woodlands, TX, USA
Megan is a high school student from The Woodlands, Texas who uses a Tobii Dynavox I-15 to communicate. She learned to paint as a child under the guidance of her grandmother, a talented visual artist. Megan first painted using a brush attached to her head because cerebral palsy prevents her from using her hands. She now creates her artwork using the same eye gazing techniques and technology that serve as her voice. A longtime horseback rider, Megan has donated her paintings for charity art auctions benefiting the SIRE therapeutic equestrian program.
Age 35 – Marseilles, IL, USA
Joshua Englehaupt, diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth, credits his love of art to his mother. As a young boy, he enjoyed watching her complete assignments for a watercolors class she was taking. He soon discovered his own talent for art, using a paintbrush with a screwdriver handle that his father designed just for him. Joshua and his mother are embarking on an exciting artistic journey together, selling their artwork online, and they couldn't be more excited about where it may take them! Joshua communicates using a Tobii Dynavox I-15.
